Watch This Space: Doctor's Orders

SPOILERS

Pretty late on this one, but wow, this turned my timeline into a warzone. Doctor Who is a pretty great show, a bout a time traveling Time Lord and there rotating cast of companions travelling across time and space and getting into all sorts of adventures. Cool concept, cool monsters and is, again, dividing it's own fans on the show's quality. Yeah, so if you weren't plugged in Doctor Who just finished it latest season a while ago and boy did it causes a ruckus.

The episode itself, the Timeless Children, pulled off a twist they were building up to all season, that the Doctor is actually not a Time Lord, but something else who has the power to regenerate, which was syphoned by the Time Lords themselves, but also had several other incarnations before they were William Hartnell. Yeah, this twist has been controversial for shaking up the lore of the show and petting things into perspective. My opinion? I don't mind it, the show's been on air back when Britain had three TV channels and if a show that's been on that long needs to shake things up, then it should. It also creates a lot of good story opportunities, like who are the other Doctors, how many lives does the Doctor actually have, will the Doctor be ginger one day?

I know a lot of people are upset about this, but they were planning to do this type of twist back in the 80's during the Sylvester McCoy years, when they were going to reveal that the Doctor was a reincarnation of another Time Lord, and they were dropping hints, but they never got round to paying them off because the show got cancelled. I honestly believe Doctor Who needed to pull off something like this, to breathe new life into it, and I liked the stuff that came before.
