Reader Friendly: Event Leviathan #2 Review

Look, I know the third issue just came out, I'm a tad bit behind okay.

Brian Michael Bendis' first event comic for DC comics still gives us a mystery and a cool team, but it felt like I missed an issue. Event Leviathan continues with the plot about a rogue organisation going after the espionage organisations of the DC universe and the team of detectives set up to stop him. The positives of this issue is that Bendis does offer a cool way to tell a story, the through line here is that Batman is giving Red Hood (Jason Todd) and the audience an update on what's happening so far. I found it a pretty neat trick the writer used here. But the story does feels a little rushed, as I mentioned before I had the feeling that there was supposed to be a issue, because certain characters show up who weren't in the last issue. It's important to note that Bendis is writing a lot of books for DC at the moment so it does feel like his attention is place elsewhere.

The art in the book, done by Bendis collaborator Alex Maleev is pretty good. The artist has worked for Marvel, so it's cool to see him draw some DC characters with his style. It also feels like this book is Bendis' dry run for different characters who aren't Superman. I would love to see him do a book on Question or on Plastic Man. I also felt the big mystery of who is Leviathan, which this book is built on, isn't really strong enough, than the reason why is Leviathan basically stealing the spy organisations.

The book is alright, not highly recommend, but pick it up if your interested.
