SPOILER WARNING FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T PLAYED THE GAME YET
Happy Halloween everybody. I was going to do some Halloween themed, but I couldn't finish the script in time, so I had to do this quick post. So Marvel's Spider-Man or Spider-Man PS4 or Spider-Man for the PS4 or Spider-Man or whichever one you like to call it, is a pretty great game. Great story, great characters, great gameplay mechanics, great additional material and I've just completed the main story so you now what that means...
Plot Speculation Time for a Sequel That Might Happen!
Yes, plot speculation time. That great time before a sequel is confirmed or has come out to make wild guesses on what it be potentially about. One of the internets oldest traditions, next to complaining about movies and arguing with people. So let's hit the ground running with the plot.
The Plot
So if you stayed after the credits then you got two little sequel teasers. One had Miles Morales reveal his Spider powers to Peter and the other is that Harry Osborn is in a tube with the Venom Symbiote. We also have Mary Jane Watson as assistant editor of the Daily Bugle and Peter Parker is looking for a job, Norman Osborn has resigned as Mayor and Doctor Octopus is out for revenge. So where to start...
Because the game did show Peter's civilian life and how his work as Spider-Man is affecting his life, I think this sequel, or the one I'm making up in my head, will be Peter balancing his superhero life, social life and training Miles while stopping a newly returned Harry Osborn and a cadre of new villains.
Also I think a good direction for the sequel to take would be making the world a bit larger and by doing that is add more characters from Marvel's toy box. Because Marvel's New York isn't just protected by Spider-Man and the game has mentioned other heroes exist like the Avengers and Daredevil, so it would be cool to see more street level heroes for Spider-Man to assist in some side missions.
Characters, New and Old
So some of the characters from the last game should appear in this game so it's a no brainer. The protagonists; Spider-Man, Mary Jane and Miles Morales. Make Miles another playable character, but as a Spider-Man in training who you can switch as in some missions. Returning villains should obviously Doctor Octopus and Harry Osborn as Venom should appear. Now Norman Osborn, it has been teased during the Penthouse mission, that Norman has been developing stuff like grenades and that mask that can detect weaknesses, so he could be the Green Goblin, but he might not be, they could have Hobgoblin appear as a villain. That might be cool.
New villains, now due to the game already used some of the well known villains, I think some villains who could be cool to see in a video game, like; Mysterio, the illusions who be a cool set piece, Kraven the Hunter, great boss fight potential, Spider-Slayers, cool enemy types to fight and maybe throw a little bit of Chameleon in their as well.
As I mentioned before, a cool direction to take is maybe have a bunch of other street level superheroes appear in side missions that Spider-Man could help. Have him and Daredevil fight a bunch of Hand ninjas, have Luke Cage and Iron Fist pop up for some crazy adventure, solve a murder with Moon Knight. Marvel's New York is full of heroes that can show up at any moment.
Supporting characters that also would be cool to see, Cindy Moon AKA Silk, she could appear as a supporting character, maybe add more characters from the NYPD. Spider-Man centric characters like Carlie Cooper or maybe some characters not related to Spider-Man, like detective Rafael Scarfe from Luke Cage or Budiansky from Punisher MAX, if you want to do some deep cuts. More Bugle staff would be cool to see, like Robbie Robertson or Ben Urich, if they do more stuff with Mary Jane.
Other Stuff
Maybe add a few more locations on the map, so something like the Baxter Building, now that Marvel have the rights to use the Fantastic Four again. Maybe add new gadgets to use. Add new costumes, like the Superior Spider-Man costume, Secret Empire, some movie suits and maybe the 1602 suit. These are just some suggestions, not actual things that will appear in the game. I'm just writing my thoughts.
